Digit Life reports that ATI will release a new value graphics card especially for Windows Vista. The card, X1300CE is meant as a successor to the current value cards X300/X500.
The RV505CD chip is produced on 80nm, sports DirectX 9.0c support, Shader Model 3.0 and AVIVO technology. It will have 4 pixel pipelines, 2 vertex shaders and a 64bit memory controller. The chip will run at a core speed of 350MH, and the board supports 400MHz DDR2 memory. Through the HyperMemory technoloy it will be possible to use part of the systems memory as graphics memory up to a total of 512MB.
Where the older value chips by both ATI and nVidia are not able to run the Aero Glass interface of Windows Vista, the new chip has support for WDDM and is therefore able to run Vista with all the features enabled. The expected price of the X1300CE is around 49 US dollars, similar to that of nVidia's 7100GS cards.
