X-bit labs posted information garnered from an Asian website supposedly revealing several details of the upcoming ASUS nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card. Though no specific information about performance and/or micro-architecture were mentioned, X-bits labs was still able to release some juicy details about the card.
The image below, as shown on the MyChat website, shows several major differences between the ASUS card and earlier pictures of the G80 models. The card seems somewhat larger, does not contain a liquid cooling system and several key components are located on different places than some of the earlier renditions of the card.
According to the website, which claims to have received its information from sources within ASUS itself, the G80 supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, nVidia's Giga Thread technology, nVidia's Quantum Effects technology, floating point high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting and a whole lot more.
ASUS is supposedly releasing two versions of the GeForce 8800 unto the market: the EN8800GTX/HTDP/768M and EN8800GTS/HTDP/640M. From the names we can assume that two versions of the G80 will be released: the GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS. The cards will not only differ in performance but also in the memory and interface used: the GTX version will ship with 768MB of memory with a 384-bit interface, whereas the GTS cards will have to make do with 640MB of memory and a 320-bit interface. The high-end 8800 GTX will be clocked at 575MHz and will be equipped with GDDR3 memory running at 1,80GHz.
