Intel allowed us to play with the quad core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor on the IDF. They supplied two identical machines, one with the Core 2 Extreme X6800, the fasted dual core at the moment, and the other was fitted with the upcoming quad core chip. Both machines had the Intel Bad Axe 2 motherboard, 2GB DDR2-800 and an nVidia 7950 GX2 graphics card. We were only allowed to run benchmark that were previously set by Intel, so we could not run any of our own standard benchmarks. Most of the benchmarks used however were the same ones that we use in our own testlab. The benchmarks give us a good preview of what to expect from this new processor, the table below shows the results.

Very impressive first results for this new quad core 2 Extreme QX6700, when this processor is officially introduced we will offcourse do a thorough test and use our own benchmarking suite to see what this new Extreme processor can do.
