[IDF] NEC shows Wireless USB devices
Somewhere next year the first Wirless USB devices will be launched and this week NEC already gave us a first glimpse of what to expect. On IDF's technology showcase they hosted a demonstration with a WUSB PC Card enabled laptop and a Canon printer connected to a Wireless USB receiver. Such a device resembles a normal USB HUB, but is in fact a wireless device that can communicate with Wireless USB PC's and laptops. Four normal USB-devices can be connected to the Wireless USB adapter that NEC was showing.
To ensure a high level of security and ease of use, before using such a Wireless USB device, you have to connector it to your PC with a cable the very first time. Then your PC and the device exchange some secret keys, enabling them from then on to communicate in a wireless fashion without your neighbour having the possibility to use your wireless printer.
