During IDF Intel gave us an update on the Homeplug technology, that uses the electricity network in your home to build a network and to connect devices to each other. Homeplug devices are available for quite some time now, but soon a new generation of Homeplug devices will be available: the new Homeplug AV standard delivers a bandwith up to 200 Mbps, suitable for transporting various HD videostreams over the electricity network. Therefore Homeplug AV is not only targeted at computers, but also at consumer electronics.

The first Homeplug AV products will hit the shelves as soon as october. Adapters for your PC will be available from Actiontec, Devolo, D-Link, Zyxel and several other vendors.
