X-bit Labs today spreads the rumour that DFI is planning to quit the desktop mainboards business and wants to focus purely on industrial solutions. DFI officials haven't confirmed the news yet. If the rumours turns out to be true, DFI is the next in a list of smaller mainboard manufacturers that isn't able anymore to compete with giants like ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte. The past years DFI was particularly popular thanks to its LanParty mainboards for AMD processors that excelled through unprecedented overclocking technologies. The Core 2 Duo mainboard that DFI has introduced lately failed to live up to the expectations of enthusiasts.

The DFI LanParty mainboards used to be very popular with enthusiasts, but according to rumours this era will end soon.
