Sony announced its external DVD-RAM compatible DVD writer which accompanies the recently launched DRU-820A internal model. The elegantly styled DRX-820UL is designed to be used either horizontally or vertically enabling it to fit into small spaces, making it the ideal product to complement any notebook or compact PC. Packing in all of the same features as the internal model, the Sony DRX-820UL delivers state of the art performance and comes with the award-winning Nero Software Suite, which includes bonus tools for DVD authoring, audio editing and DVD back-up.

Sony DRX-820UL

The Sony DRX-820UL offers the ultimate in speed and capacity, with a rewriteable speed of 5x for DVD-RAM media, the ability to burn all DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW media, including the latest double and dual layer DVD recordable discs, while offering 8.5GB of capacity per single sided dual layer disc. The DRX-820UL records DVD+R DL media at 8x speed, DVD-R DL media at 6x speed and single-layer DVD±R discs at 16x speed. Rewritable DVDs can be recorded at 8x (DVD+RW) and 6x (DVD-RW) speed respectively and the drive offers 48x CD speed.

The DRX-820UL can be connected via High-Speed USB2.0 or IEEE1394 interface to any compact PC or notebook. The DRX-820UL will be available from May 2006 at an estimated street price of 139 EURO incl. VAT.
