Toshiba announced the 17-inch Satellite P205, a notebook computer line that comes standard with Labelflash, a technology for laser inscribing labels onto recordable DVD-R media, and a built-in webcam for video conferencing with a starting price of less than $1,000. Toshiba also offers select models featuring Intel’s new Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n1 wireless connectivity.

New to the Satellite P205 is Labelflash technology, which is a fusion of software and hardware that harnesses the power of the optical drive laser. Using special Labelflash DVD-R discs users can burn both images and text labels onto compatible media. While Labelflash is presently a DVD-R compatible technology, the built-in DVD SuperMulti drive can also read and write data in all major optical formats, including double layer media.

The Satellite P205 is an Onyx Blue Metallic notebook, with a slightly rounded body-contour, a Windows Vista compliant keyboard with greater key spacing, and a wider mouse touchpad. These features should produce an elegant machine that provides the comfort of use of a desktop computer.

The Satellite P205 series is available with a starting estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $999.992 for the Satellite P205-S6237. For a higher price, both the Satellite P205-S6267 and Satellite P205-6257 support the draft 802.11n wireless protocol.
