LaCie unveiled the LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID, powered by a 400MHz Intel 80219 processor. It's a complete Windows data backup solution with advanced recovery features such as network and remote booting, as well as automatic drive rebuilding when configured to RAID 5 + spare. LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID offers 1TB or 2TB capacity with four hot-swappable drives, and includes two USB 2.0 ports for easily adding storage to the network.
LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID is best as a backup and recovery solution for Windows, but also supports file sharing on Linux and Mac OS. It offers UPnP support for automatic recognition on the network. LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID can also be used as a FTP server, so users can access and transfer data from outside the office on any machine with an Internet connection. It's equipped with two Gigabit LAN ports for setting up a DHCP server with auto-IP assignment, or a local Gigabit network.
LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID includes full-featured Windows Backup & Recovery Software for automatic incremental backups from localized client machines. If a machine should fail, the user can boot into Windows over the network and continue working while their system is being rebuilt. LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID offers a full set of user/group management tools for creating specialized access privileges for each workgroup or user, and an email notification feature will keep them informed of basic activity, backup jobs and critical system errors.
Availability
LaCie Ethernet Disk RAID is available immediately online and widely available via LaCie's specialized dealer network later this month at the suggested retail price of $999 (1TB) or $1299 (2TB). It's fully equipped with all cables necessary for immediate use, as well as one free license for Windows Backup & Recovery Software.
