DigiTimes tell us that AMD is teaming up with two manufacturers for it's upcoming Fusion processor. This new chip will combine the functionality of a regular CPU with a graphics chip. It seems that AMD won't be producing the new chips themselves: TSMC is working on the OEM version of the Fusion processor, while Charted Semiconductor will produce a higher clocked version for the (high-end) retail market, using Silicon-on-Insulator technology. AMD plans to start the mass production of the Fusion chip in 2009.
