At the end of August Samsung bragged about the S5230 'Star' touchscreen phone and how it established a new company record for reaching 5 million sold units. Fast forward to today and the South Korean tech titan is happy to say Star surpassed the 10 million mark and has done that faster than any other phone in Samsung history. Released back in May, the S5230 is the sixth Samsung mobile phone to pass the 10 million milestone, with statistics showing that 5 million units were sold in Europe, 1.6 million in Latin America, and 900,000 in the Commonwealth of Independent States. "We've entered an era where full touch-screen mobiles are mainstream devices, and we are very pleased with the broad popularity of the Samsung Star," said Young-hee Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. "Samsung is aiming to take the lead in the global touch-screen mobile market with our diverse product line up and customized, unique marketing approach." Spec-wise, the Star features a 3.0-inch (240x400) touchscreen, an accelerometer, FM radio, a 3.15 megapixel camera, 50MB of built-in memory, and a microSD slot.
