AMD to cut prices of Phenom CPUs and introduce Black Edition Phenom 9600

The price war is set to start very soon for AMD's Phenom series as the company is preparing to a couple of price cuts that will be introduced this week. Both the Phenom 9500 and 9600 will get cheaper with the first set to drop to around $211 (in 1000-unit tray quantities). The 9600 will get a smaller cut but it will be backed up by its Black Edition brother which will be released probably later today. As AMD is marketing it the Phenom 9600 Black Edition will have an unlocked multiplier and will offer quad-core power at dual-core prices. Given that the CPUs are most likely still B2 revisions it will be interesting to see how much good the price cut will do.
