AMD to release Phenom 9600 Black Edition this year

To make the post-release period a little more interesting AMD has decided on released the Black Edition of its Phenom 9600 by the end of the year. The news old CPU will basically be a 2.3 GHz clocked quad-core but it will have an unlocked multiplier and that should get overclockers the possibility of topping and exceeding the 3.0 GHz mark which AMD showcased several times this year. There's no fixed price tag for the CPU yet so we'll have to wait until next month for more details. As for higher-clocked Phenoms, 2008 is the key number.
