ASUS uses watercooling on the GeForce 8800 GTX

We have tested a large number of GeForce 8800GTS and GTX cards for our magazine recently in an effort to try and find the fastest GeForce card on the market today. A card we really wanted to test but did not arrive in our labs on time for this test is the EN8800GTX AquaTank by ASUS. This card has Watercooling as standard and ASUS claims that this model is faster than any other GeForce 8800 card in the shops. A bold statement that we just had to test for accuracy.

10 cards with the new Radeon X1650 and X1950 chips

Review:

With the introduction of cards like the GeForce 7900 GS, the GeForce 7950 GT and more recently the GeForce 8 series, nVidia has thoroughly reshuffled the videocard trade. We have yet to hear ATI's reply to the GeForce 8, which is the world's first DirectX 10 compatible videocard. Nevertheless we hear new rumours on an almost daily basis about its new R600 chip which should be introduced sometime in the coming few months. If we take the high end sector of the market as read, we can see that the aforementioned 7900 GS and 7950 GT cards suddenly gave nVidia the edge in the price/performance stakes. A right sock in the eye for ATI! But as per usual a reaction doesn't take long, and ATI has recently restructured its current line of videocards. In the mid-range sector, it introduced the ATI Radeon X1650 XT, a card that outperforms nVidia's shining star, the GeForce 7600 GT in almost all cases. In the higher regions of the market, the Radeon X1950 Pro was presented as a direct competitor for the GeForce 7900 GS, and soon after that the X1950 XT was created in order to menace the GeForce 7950 GT.

Thermaltake Tide Water vs. Cooler Master Aquagate Viva

It is no secret that videocards are getting more powerful and also power-hungry. The latest GeForce 8800GTX cards need a total of two power supply conectors to be supplied with enough power. To cool these amounts of electrical muscle, air cooling won't suffice and more drastic measures must be undertaken to avoid overheating.

DirectX 10 on a "budget"

Review:

11/16/2006
Last wednesday was dominated by the highly anticipated release of nVidia's GeForce 8800, the first DirectX 10 compatible videocards. In our extensive review, we looked thouroghly at all the specifications of nVidia's latest GPU and bombarded you guys with a long list of various benchmarks which showed just what nVidia's pride and joy, the GeForce 8800 GTX, was capable of. On average the 8800 GTX was 70% faster than any single conventional videocard. Truthfully the only negative thing we could think of was the huge price tag that the GeForce 8800 GTX carries, with a recommended retail price of around 490 pounds your almost forced to take a second mortgage on your house so as to be able to afford a DirectX 10 card. Luckily nVidia has launched a second version of the 8800 under the well known moniker, the GeForce 8800 GTS.

The new nVidia monster from three manufacturers

Review:

You can't have missed the fact that nVidia has unleashed their GeForce 8800 GTX today, upsetting the entire graphics card market. The new addition is faster than any current offerings, and that alone we think is enough reason to go out and buy one. However it is not only speed that counts with this card, the GeForce 8800 card is the first card that is DirectX 10 compatible. In our test that was published today we have already described all the new technologies in the card, and put it through all our standard benchmarks. We have received the new card from three manufacturers: Point-of-View, Leadtek en Sparkle. It is no surprise that these three cards are all very similar, as nVidia usually only works with a few partners after introduction of a card. As the partners are not allowed to overclock the card, all clock speeds are identical as well. This however does not stop us to introduce these three card to you in a seperate review.

Recently we posted an article reviewing the Radeon X1650 Pro graphics cards by HIS and Sapphire. We have received cards by Gigabyte and MSI, and both manufacturers have tries to make something spaecial out of their versions: Gigabytes effort uses a completely passive heatsink, where as MSI is utilizing DDR2 in stead of GDDR3 to keep the price as low as possible.

A few days ago MSI officially annouced the NX7900GTO-T2D512E, a card that uses the unknown nVidia GeForce 7900 GTO chip. We have not received any news by nVidia or any of their other partners that they were planning to release a similar card, so naturally we were quite curious what this card could do. We have received a sample of the card have put it through all the normal video tests, and we can conclude that with this 7900 GTO MSI offers a lot of 3D power for a very small price.

The X1650 is the new mid range chip by ATI, a successor to the X1600XT.

HDMI is fast becoming the de facto connector for consumer electronics. This is hardly surprising as a single HDMI cable allows HD video as well as multi-channel audio to be transmitted. By now, we have five HDMI videocards in our database, two of which come from ASUS and the others from Gigabyte, PowerColor and Sapphire. This calls for a closer look!

In todays review of the new nVidia GeForce 7900 GS we took an in-depth look at the graphic card’s capabilities and performance. We were impressed with the new card as it managed to perform at about 80% of the performance of a GeForce 7900 GT, this coupled with an estimated retail price of around 200 euro makes the card very attractive in price/performance ratios. Three manufacturers managed to supply us with their own samples of the new GeForce 7900 GS; Sparkle, Point-of-View and XFX. In this article we will try to find out which of these three is the best choice to buy at the moment.
