Gigabyte Aurora 570 vs. NZXT Apollo vs. Recom Powerstation

Recom PowerStation

One thing immediately come to mind when looking at the Recom Powerstation, it is one mean looking case. The main color is black, a part of the case is metallic grey. The blue lights, mesh panels and vertical text "PowerStation developed by Recom" provide the finishing touches on the case. There are not only blue LEDs at the front of the case, but the fan in the side panel has a blue LED fan as well. The model we received has a large sidewindow, but you can also buy this case wthout a window in the sidepanel.

We are enthousiastic about the looks of the Recom Powerstation, but it true advantages show when you assemble a system with it. Both panels actually flip down very easily, so the motherboard and all components on it are easily accessible and changed if you want to. When you spend a lot of time changing your system or components this is a very usefull feature.

The case can take up to four 5,25" drives and two accesible 3,5" drives. There is room for four more harddrives in a removable cage and the case comes standard with four fans. One at the front, one at the rear, one in the sidepanel and one in the "enforce bar". This bar is meant to help secure large and heavy add on cards like graphics cards. When you spend a lot of time at LAN parties you can rest assured that your expensive cards will not drop out of the PCI-Express slots.

The Recom PowerStation can be opened up completely.

Of course this case has disadvantages as well, for instance the fan in the enforce bar is a lot louder than the other three fans in the case, and we would replace this immediately with a quieter model. Also the color blue that the fan in the sidepanel lights up with is completely different to the color blue of the lights in the front panel, which can annoy after some time.

We are pretty happy however with the Recom Powerstation, we like the actual design of the case and the ease of access to the components is a very good invention. The biggest pro of this case is the price, it can be found for less than £ 50 and we can honestly say that there is no reason not to buy this case. We therefore awarded it the Hwardware.Info Silver Award!
