GeForce 8800 GTS stripped: DirectX 10 for less!

EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB ACS3

EVGA sent us a sample of their ACS3 version of the GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB. ACS3 stands for Advanced Cooling System 3, the special cooler EVGA has assembled on this card. The large metal cap is positioned above the general GeForce 8 cooler and does not only provide extra cooling, but also gives the card an extreme rude look. EVGA also assembled additional cooling ribs on the backside of the card.

Like all ACS3 series cards the GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB standard comes overclocked. Whereas nVdia decrees a 500 MHz clock frequency for the GPU and 800Mhz for the GDDR 3 memory, the EVGA card is clocked at 580 / 850 MHz. While testing we found out that the EVGA standard was not the maximum: we managed to pump up the card to 660 / 1070 MHz. With 3DMark06 we were able to lift the 9471 standard score to 10717 points, a 13% increasement!
