Conclusion
When looking at the graphs, a few things are immediately noticable: the larger fans perform much better than the smaller ones, simply because they can move more air per rotation. In terms of volume levels, a similar conclusion can not be drawn. The fans perform very differently per size and model, and it's not possible to conclude that one size is more silent than the rest by definition. If we look at displacement per decibel, the larger fans are clearly in the lead. The largest fan in the test (the Sharkoon S1402515P-3) is way out of the other fans' league. Other recommended models in terms of performance per dB are (amongst others) the Antec TriCool 120 and the Silverstone FM121.

If you require the largest amount of displaced air with no concern for the amount of noise? Then the Silverstone FM121 is the best choice, along with the aforementioned 140 mm Sharkoon fan and the Silverstone FMC3XW.
If you're in the market for a fan that's as silent as possible, Acoustifan's Dustproof 12025B is the clear winner, followed by Sharkoon's Silent Eagle 1000, the SWiF-1201 by Coolink and Cooler Master's SAF-S12-E1.
