Use a marker pen to mark the plce where you need to cut the mat, or if you are confident cut it straight off with a hobby knife. Use a ruler or the side panel itself to ensure a traight cut, and do not try and cut through the material in one go. As it is quite thick it might take two or even three goes before you are completely through the material. Doing it carefully and not applying too much pressure will give you a nicer finish.
