Introduction

Windows Vista is the successor to Windows XP, and the news has already been released that it will appear in the shops at the beginning of 2007. We checked out the Release Candidate (RC) versions and looked at the improvements in the OS, not just the improvements in the graphical interface.

The successor to Windows XP has been taking quite some time to surface. Not that long ago a new operating system appeared every two years, but Windows XP has been around for more than five years. There have been some changes in the OS, like the addition of Service Pack 2 and different types of the OS like Media Centre and Tablet editions, but the essential workings of WIndows XP have not really changed over the years. However with Vista a lot of things "under the hood" of the OS have changed compared to WIndows XP.
