The single and dual core models all make use of the same chassis and would therefore be virtually indistinguishable from each other. We had no problems telling which was which as MSI have implemented a simple solution to this "problem" by using an orange panel around the screen instead of the standard black one you are able to instantly tell that your dealing with a single core model. In any case your going to get noticed when using this notebook, if you do not want that, MSI told us they are also selling the single core model in a black finishing.
Though the price difference between the two S271 models is substantial, specification wise they are almost identical. Both notebooks have the same 80 GB hard drive, 1 GB of memory, same DVD-burner and even Bluetooth is hasn't been left out of the equation. The notebook weighs in at 2.1 Kilograms and though we have to admit that there are ligther models available none even come close in value for money.
The MSI Mega Book S271 is based on the ATI Mobility Radeon X1100 chipset. The chipset offers more than adequate functionality and also powers the graphics, but like most integrated graphical processors it doesn't offer exceptional performance but should more than adequate for the casual gamer.
