Not a prize bull

An nVidia GeForce Go 7400 drives the screen, not the fastest mobile solution around, but potent enough for most users. In combination with the Intel Core Duo T2500 the VX1 performs reasonably well, but is not the speed demon we had expected when compared to other notebooks on the market. Like all the Core Duo notebooks the VX1 is based on the Intel 945PM chipset along with an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG WLAN module that offers compatibility with most of the main WLAN standards. Other connections to the outside world can be made through Bluetooth and the Realtek Gigabit Ethernet chip. Finishing touches are 1GB of memory and a 120GB 5400rpm hard drive.

Overall the Lamborghini's performance is average, mainly due to the slow videochip especially when compared to other machines in this price range . The battery life is quite good, we were able to run the MobileMark for three hours and forty minutes before the battery was dead. Strangely enough the very light Reader benchmark causes the VX1 to shutdown almost an hour earlier. In all probability the installed software interpreted the test incorrectly. The VX1 is relatively light with a weight of 2.6 kilos.

Conclusion

An extravagant outside combined with a modest inside, this perfectly sums up the ASUS Lamborghini VX1. It's a pity the specifications are not comparable to those of the Raging Bull super cars, combined with a relatively high price this notebook will mainly appeal to the real ASUS and Lamborghini enthusiasts amongst us.
