Dell XPS M1210
12 inch notebooks are rarely graphically powerful enough and this makes them unsuitable for many. Dell erases this preconception from our minds with the XPS M1210.
The XPS M1210 is visually similar to the other models in the XPS gaming range Dell offers, although it is styled a bit more reserved than the XPS M1710 we recently covered. The specifications of the model we tested are very generous: an Intel Core Duo T2400, 2 GB DDR2-667 memory, 100 GB hard drive and a 12 inch 1280 x800 monitor. As is expected of Dell the XPS M1210 can be customized to suit anyone's wishes. For example the 5400 rpm 100 GB hard drive we have in our tested model can be changed to a faster, 7200 rpm model, and also the processor and amount of memory can be modified.
The screen is powered by an nVidia GeForce Go 7400 with 256 MB of dedicated video memory at its disposal. It's not the fastest notebook video chip, but it's capable of achieving decent results. The 12 inch monitor is on the small side for gaming, but this can be addressed by hooking up a large TFT monitor to the notebook's VGA connection when at home.
