Logitech MX Revolution
Ever since the computer mouse was invented more than 40 years ago, development has never stagnated. Logitech especially has proven itself to be at the forefront of computer mouse technology, delivering new technology year in, year out. This week, Logitech introduced the MX Revolution, a mouse which has according to Logitech passed through a two-year development process. Is this mouse - which is in stores now for $79.99 or £59.99 - the ultimate human interface device?
First Impressions
At first glance the new MX Revolution is clearly related to the other MX mice that Logitech has recently introduced. The mouse is shaped entirely for the right hand -southpaws are out of luck- and is definitely a delight to hold. For someone with large hands the Revolution might be a tad on the small side, but even then the new mouse should be perfectly useable.
The mouse's design has been greatly improved over its predecessors: the rodent is decked out in dark grey and has rubber padding on both sides which not only complements its looks, but also provides extra grip. On top of the mouse we find a unique scrollwheel -which we will explore further down the page- and a so-called "instant search" button. On the left side there is a second wheel and forward and back buttons. On top of the mouse there is also an LED indicator which shows the power level of the battery.
The mouse uses laser technology and this makes it suitable for almost any surface. Apart from the mouse itself, the packaging contains a small USB receiver and also a cradle in which the mouse can be placed to charge it.
