Laptops are becoming increasingly popular, something we notice on an increasing basis in our test lab at Hardware.info : we're basically being swamped by the offerings of the various laptop manufacturers. Models ranging from tiny, 1 kilogram in weight, machines to veritable behemoths, with 20 inch screens and a weight of 7,5 kilograms, which make you question whether these machines can still be classified as "laptops". Let one thing be clear though, with so much choice there is a ready solution for everyone.

For anyone who is on the market for a laptop, the first question to ask oneself is what your going to use it for and where your going to use it. If the laptop in question is not going to leave the living room and there is a ready supply of power sockets then the question of weight and battery life are fairly inconsequential when compared to a laptop whose life of service will be spent mostly on airplanes and has to fit comfortably on the lap of someone sitting in the cramped seat of an economy class flight.
