The motherboard is based on the Intel 945GM chipset, which means that graphical results aren't particularly spectacular. It's sufficient for run-of-the-mill Windows XP use. Whoever plans to play games, is advised to look for a model with a dedicated graphical chip by ATI or nVidia. The advantage of this Intel chip is that it keeps the price of this Toshiba laptop down, especially taking into account that just like the other business-oriented models Toshiba offers this notebook has a connector for a docking station. This allows the laptop to connect to an assortment of peripherals in a business environment in a user-friendly manner.
The performance figures are comparable to other notebooks that are equipped with similar technology. The battery lasts about three hours, which is also average. Sadly, it failed to successfully complete the more heavy duty MobileMark 2005 Productivity Workload battery test, which means there are no results for this particular test.
Even though this model comes from Toshiba's Tecra line, it is not the most sturdy laptop we have ever seen. This is undoubtedly due to the attractive price level. Furthermore, the back of the screen comes across as being a bit too flexible. For intensive use we would recommend a more expensive model from Toshiba's Tecra line.
Conclusion
An affordable business-grade notebook with almost all options that one could wish for: widescreen monitor, dual core processor and the most important forms of networking connectivity for a reasonable price. The big advantage a business laptop like this one is that you can easily buy user-friendly accessories like docking stations.
