Toshiba offers the buyer a lot of choice in the field of notebooks. Both business and consumer-grade products are offered. The Tecra A8 comes to us from the business sector and is a relatively affordable widescreen notebook.

The Tecra A8 is a model with features that will appeal to many: a dual core processor, 15.4 inch widescreen monitor (1280x800), 80 GB 5400 rpm hard drive and a DVD burner. Toshiba did not cut corners with the other specifications either, because we can find among other things an Intel PRO/1000 PL gigabit network chip and naturally Intel's PRO/Wireless 3945ABG 802.11a/b/g WLAN adaptor that one can find in almost every modern Centrino laptop.

Just like the U200-168 we recently examined this Tecra A8-154 is equipped with an Intel Core Duo T2300E processor. The E version is a specification that, contrary to other current Core Duo processors, means that this processor does not support Intel Virtualization Technology. This is hardly a disaster, because useful applications that support this technology are few and far between.
