Provider of warranty extensions SquareTrade, has extensively analysed the three-year service history of over 30.000 notebooks and summarized the results in comparing diagrams, as can be seen below.

The first thing noticable is that netbooks are about 20% less reliable than entry-level laptops. Those laptops are 10% more unreliable than more expensive models.

The diagram compares several manufacturers to one another. At a 25,6% failure rate, the test does not favor HP notebooks, whereas ASUS and Toshiba appear to produce the most reliable laptops.
