To draw some attention away from AMD's introduction of the HD 5800 series, nVidia will be presenting its first 40nm graphics cards on the 12th of October. The two new models, branded GeForce G210 and GT220, are to serve the lower price segment. With the transition to the 40nm process, nVidia has also altered its design to support DirectX 10.1. Though officially the NDA of the two 40nm nVidia chips doesn't get cleared until monday, images depicting MSI's GeForce GT220 have already surfaced.
The images below show that the GT220 is a rather small card that does not require any additional power connectors. Including the aluminum heatsink, the card only takes up a single slot. Video outputs include VGA, DVI and HDMI. The graphics card sports the product code N220GT-MD1G-OC, which means that the clock frequencies have been increased. A total of 1 GB of GDDR3 memory is present on the card. The reference GT220 has its core clocked at 615 MHZ and the 48 shader units at 1335 MHz. The memory features a reference clock frequency is specified at 1580 MHz, but is likely to be increased on MSI's OC version.
