nVidia has introduced the GeForce 210 and GT220. The graphics cards were already available to system manufacturers earlier, but can now be purchaesd by everyone.

The GeForce 210 is the slowest model from the series and is to compete with AMD's Radeon HD 4550. The GPU is clocked at 589 MHz and sports 16 shaders that operate at 1402 MHz. The chip communicates with 512 MB of DDR2 memory by means ofa 64-bit memory bus. The memory frequency is specified at 500 MHz. Several manufacturers have already announced a version of the card equipped with DDR3-memory. The introduction price is specified at 40 euro.

The GeForce GT220 features 48 shaders that are clocked at 1360 MHz. The GPU has a 625 MHz frequency and the 128-bit DDR3 memory operates at 790 MHz. Both 512 MB and 1024 MB versions of the card will be available. The GT220 is to cost about 60 euro. The card is to be a direct competitor to AMD's Radeon HD 4670.

Both 40nm GPUs are created at TSMC and feature support for DirectX 10.1. Manufacturers such as Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, Point of View, Sparkle and Palit already have the cards available in stock. The 210 and Gigabyte's GT220 come overclocked.
