Earlier this week, NesteQ introduced a series of modular power supplies, branded E2CS X-Strike. Featuring brushed aluminum chassis and wattage of 400 up to a 1000 W, the supplies can be used in both midrange and highend systems. What sets the E2CS X-Strike apart from a lot of competitors are the features NesteQ calls the Power Monitoring Panel (PMP) and the Enhanced Easy Connection System (EECS). The first is quite self-explanatory and allows for easy diagnosis of problems with the individual rails. EECS allows up to four molex- and SATA-power cables to be attached to one another, to create immensely long cables.

NesteQ's E2CS X-Strike line-up lives up to the ATX 2.2, EPS 2.91 and BTX 1.0a specifications. The supplies also feature the 80 Plus label, which means that an efficiency of atleast 80% is guaranteed. The company claims that the efficiency can go as high as 88%. A black 135 mm fan is positioned in the middle of the supply to keep the components cooled down. The six different models each feature four +12 Volt rails; the 400W model has 18 A on each of those rails, while the 1000 W topmodel has 30 A. The current of the PCI-Express power cables varies from 24 to 75 A. Additional specifications can be found on NesteQ's product page
The Power Monitoring Panel allows users to monitor the status of the +12V, +5V, +3.3V and +5Vsb rails. When there are no problems detected, all the LEDs will light up green; if however, there are any anomalies, the matching LED will be disabled. Additionally, NesteQ bundles a handy device which allows for testing the power supply without requiring it to be attached to a motherboard.

The Enhanced Easy Connection System is basically a modular cabling system. Multiple cables can be attached to one another to cross a larger distance in say, a bigtower Chassis. The added length may also allow users to tidy the cables more properly. Up to four cables with a combined length of 160 cm can be connected to each other through this method.

NesteQ's E2CS X-Strike power supplies will become available later this month at a still unknown price.
