AMD silently added a new chipset to its line-up yesterday. The newly introduced 760G chipset is the little brother of the 780G and will be serving the mid-segment with its integrated HD 3000 videochip. This chipset lacks a number of hardware-acceleration features and the GPU's core clock has been reduced from 500 MHz to 350 MHz.
This makes the 760G less capable of playing HD video and gaming, but it's still perfectly suited for lighter applications. The 760G will be linked to the SB710 southbridge, which is based on the SB750, only then without RAID5 and AAC functionality.
The power of the 760G should be in it's pricetag, AMD is positioning it between the 780G and the older 740G. The low-end 740G is of an older generation and lacks a DirectX 10 compatible videochip.
The new 760G is based on the 780G chipset and will feature a SB710 southbridge.
