Following several other manufacturers, Akasa has introduced its first Core i7 CPU-cooler, the Akasa Nero (AK-967). Next to Intel's new platform, the cooler is also compatible with Intel's socket 775, as well as AMD's socket 939, 940 and AM2(+).
The Nero CPU-cooler consists of three copper heatpipes with an 8 mm diameter, which transfer the heat from the 3D-chip to the 46 aluminum cooling fins. A 120 mm fan is used to cool the fins. Because the heatpipes are in direct contact with the processors' heatspreader, Akasa claims support for processors with a TDP of up to 150 Watt. The temperature controlled fan spins between 500 and 1500 RPM, displacing respectively 17.38 CFM and 50.54 CFM of air. The sound production is specified between 18.3 dB(A) and 24.6 dB(A).
Akasa's Nero cooler can already be pre-ordered in the United Kingdom, where it costs £35,24.
