As a response to ATI's new Radeon HD4600 serie, nVidia recently decided to drop the prices of the GeForce 9500 and 9600 series of graphisc cards. The 9600GSO will be placed against the HD4670 GDDR3 and the 9500GT will be priced similar to the GDDR2 version of the HD4650. The faster 9600GT will drop below 100 dollar as well.

According to Computerbase tests, the 9600GSO, a reincarnation of the 8800GS, performs about the same as the HD4670, making it an interesting alternative to ATI's new card. The GeForce 9600GT has no direct competitor in the HD4000 serie yet, but it's likely that won't be for long.
