Zotac has expanded its line of Mini-ITX motherboards. The manufacturer reports that the ION-ITX-F, as the board is branded, is a 'high-end' motherboard. In terms of appearance, it bears a striking resemblance to the existing ION-ITX boards, but with an added PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, to allow a more powerful graphics card to be used. Zotac states that the addition has been made due to popular demand.
The ION-ITX-F is still based on a 1,6 GHz dualcore Intel Atom 330 processor, in combination with nVidia's GeForce 9400 chipset. Two memory slots allow up to 4 GB of DDR2-800 memory to be used. Next to the PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, a Mini-PCI Express slot has been placed, standardly used by an 802.11n network card as expansion to the integrated Gigabit networkcontroller. Zotac's new board features three SATA 3.0 Gbit/s connectors, one eSATA and up to ten USB 2.0-connectors.
Image output can be done through D-Sub, DVI and HDMI. The integrated 5.1 audiochip provides the system's audio, which can be routed to external devices by means of an optical and coaxial S/PDIF-output as well. Zotac has not yet released any information regarding pricing and availability.
