The increasing demand for thin notebooks has led to the introduction of MSI's X-Slim series of laptops. Though these lightweight systems are usually equipped with an efficient Intel CULV Core 2 processor, MSI has decided to release a model with AMD technology as well. Their latest creation is branded X410 and uses a 1,6 GHz AMD Neo MV-40 processor. AMD specifies that this CPU only consumes 15 Watt, which results in smaller coolers to be needed for the CPU, as well as an increased battery life. The laptop has a 24,5 mm height and weighs 1,5 kg.
MSI's X410 is equipped with 4 GB of DDR2 memory, an onboard Radeon X1250 videochip and a hard disk with either 320 or 500 GB storage capacity. The 14 inch screen has a 1366x768 pixel resolution and sports LED-backlighting. The thin notebook also has an integrated 1,3 megapixel webcam, 2-in-1 cardreader, Gigabit LAN and WiFi. A bluetooth model can be purchased optionally and users can also decide between a 4-cell and an 8-cell battery. MSI's new X-Slim laptop is to be released in a few weeks at prices of less than $630. This price includes the installation of Windows Vista Home Premium.
