With the ever-increasing power consumption of graphics cards, watercooling is a great solution to both make the system run more quietly and allow for greater performance by means of overclocking. Because a large amount of components on the card could use some extra cooling, a lot of manufacturers decide to release full-cover watercooling blocks, which as the name suggests, covers and cools the entire card. The primary drawbacks of these heatsinks are their pricetags and incompatibility with newer generations of graphics cards.
To offer an alternative to these luxurious watercooling sets, Innovatek has introduced the "Universal GPU" watercooling block, compatible with nVidia's GeForce 6200, 7300 8400 and GTS250 cards, as well as competitor AMD's Radeon HD3000 and HD4000 series. The block consists of a thick copper base and weighs about 260 grams. The connectors use a conventional G 1/4" fitting, allowing them to be easily integrated into an existing watercooling loop.
The block is mounted on the GPU by means of four screws, which are driven into the block from the back of the card. The distance between the mounting holes is 53,2 millimeter. Innovatek's new watercooling block is to cost about 40 euro.
