It appears that the recently surfaced Intel Pentium E6500K processor is quite a decent candidate for overclocking. After Expreview obtained one of the chips, they were able to clock the new 45 nm Wolfdale CPU with unlocked multiplier to a respectable 4607 MHz. With the help of a K|ngp|n F1 and the required liquid nitrogen, overclocker DFORDOG of the Expreview forum has even been capable of breaching the 6 GHz mark.
The used motherboard was a Biostar TP45 HP, which is available in a bundle with Intel's Pentium E6500K processor, as well as two 1 GB Geil memory modules. The seperate processor is retailed at the equivalent of about US $84 in China at this point. Intel hopes that this chip will become a worthy opponent to AMD's new Black Edition dualcore processors, which also feature an unlocked multiplier.
