Zalman has introduced an improved version of its existing CNPS9900 LED cooler. Though the CNPS9900A LED CPU-cooler doesn't appear to be different to its predecessor, the cooler is slightly lighter, weighing in at 730 grams. The base of the cooler, as well as the three heatpipes are made of copper and the familiar 120 mm blue LED-fan is also present. The fan speeds are varaiable between 1000 and 2000 RPM.
Given the fact that the design doesn't show much of a difference, we are to find it in the bundled accessories. An RC33P cable is bundled which features a small resistance, allowing the fanspeed to be adjusted from 800 to 1300 RPM. This would also decrease the sound production, then specified at between 18 dB(A) and 28,5 dB(A), based on the used setting.
Apart from this resistance cable, the cooler also comes with 3,5 grams of Zalman's own ZM-STG2 thermal paste. The CNPS9900A LED CPU-cooler is compatible with all modern sockets thanks to a number of bundled adaptors. It'll also support Intel's new LGA-1366 and LGA-1156 sockets, as well as AMD's AM3. The CNPS9900 will become available shortly, bearing a pricetag of about € 45
