Gigabyte introduces the GA-MA785G-UD3H, a new socket AM3 motherboard that is based on AMD's 785G chipset. This chipset is the successor to the 780G, which became popular due to its high-quality IGP, low power consumption and relatively low pricetag. Compared to its predecessor, this chipset features an even better videochip, based on the RV710 (as can be found in the Radeon HD4350 GPU). AMD calls this new IGP the Radeon HD4200. The chip has more shader units than the old HD3200 and support for DirectX 10.1 has been added. The new 785G chipset is linked to the SB710 souhtbridge, which also supports ACC. This feature allows certain dualcore and triplecore processors to quadcores, as well as increase overclocking potential.
Gigabyte's new board is compatible with DDR2 memory modules of up to 1333 MHz and supports the latest HyperTransport 3.0 interface. The chipset is also able to run Crossfire configurations, which has resulted in two graphics card slots on the board. In total, there are 16 lanes available, making a Crossfire setup run at 8x/8x. There are also three PCI-Express 1x and two regular PCI slots, as well as six SATA connectors.
Gigabyte has also equipped its new 785G motherboard with a PATA and floppy connector, allowing for older devices to be supported as well. The name of the motherboard suggests that this model is constructed conform the Ultra Durable 3 standard. This means high-quality components have been used, such as solid cap capacitors and that additional copper has been used in the PCB.

The I/O panel of the GA-MA785G-UD3H board features the usual connectors such as USB, 7.1 audio, Gigabit LAN, eSATA, FireWire and optical audio. By means of the integrated HD4200 videochip, connectors for VGA, DVI and HDMI are also available. The motherboard is to cost about 75 euro.
