After the efficient Atom processor by Intel and VIA's Nano line-up, AMD wants to conquer a spot on the cheap and efficient PC and laptop market as well. As a result, AMD is developing a small single-core processor, based on the K8 architecture, which we've seen for years in the Athlon64. The singlecore processor will run at a speed of 1 GHz with 64KB of instructions and data cache, and an L2 cache of 256KB. The small single-core chip features an 800MHz Hypertransport link and will have 812 pins.

Since the chip is based on the Athlon64 architecture, it can handle 64-bits instructions and has an integrated DDR2 memory controller. That controller gives quite an advantage, it allows the chipset to be much more efficient than the 945GC one Intel uses for its Atom. AMD's chipset and processor would have a combined TDP of 8 Watt.
Since AMD hasn't progressed much in the development of 45nm chips, it is expected that these new processors will be of the 65nm process.
