Freecom claims smallest external harddisk

Earlier this week, Freecom has launched the Mobile Drive XXS, a 2.5" external harddisk with capacities of 160, 250, or 320 GB. According to the company, the Mobile Drive XXS is world's smallest external harddisk with these capacities: the device measures 109.8 x 79.5 x 13.5 mm and weighs 155 grams. 

The harddisk is connected to a computer through USB 2.0 (max. 60 MB/s). The required power is drawn from the port, making an external supply unnecessary. 

The case has a rubber finish for a business look and proper grip and the disk is passively cooled, hardly producing any sound therefore.

According to Freecom the XXS will be available in early August this year at a recommended price of  € 79,99 (160 GB), € 89,99 (250 GB) and € 99,99 (320 GB). The device comes with a one year factory warranty and helpdesk support.
