The Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News reported that Sony is also working on a cheap compact notebook. It's expected that most of the components for the laptop will be provided by Foxconn.

Until recently, Japanese brands were hesitant to the concept of cheap netbooks, which after the introduction of the Eee PC, became quite a popular market. After brands such as MSI and Dell responded to the concept, EDN does not think it'll take much longer before Sony, Toshiba and Fujitsu will enter the market as well: they claim that it could be before the end of the year.
