RocketRAID 2224: 8 SATA II PCI-X@133 MHz

The new RocketRAID 2224 connects up to 8 SATA II or I hard disk drives. The RocketRAID 2224 offers superior performance with its PCI-X@133Mhz bus architecture and 3Gbps transfer rates along with support for Native Command Queuing (NCQ). The RocketRAID 2224 supports advanced RAID features such as Online Capacity Expansion and Online RAID Level Migration (OCE/RLM) and provides advanced RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 10, and JBOD). These new features will maximize storage investments while improving storage utilization in extremely large storage configurations. Other capabilities of the RocketRAID 2224 include SAF-TE chassis management support, S.M.A.R.T. disk monitoring and staggered drive spin up.

The RocketRAID 2224 features 1 external Multi-Lane connector to combine four SATA ports into a single connection. The Multi-lane connector will help reduce the number of cabling to support 4 SATA hard disks from 4 to 1. Cable connections are secured with a locking mechanism which increases connection reliability. With an additional four internal point to point SATA ports the RocketRAID 2224 will support greater than 2TB single partition RAID arrays.

Configuring RAID arrays on the RocketRAID 2224 is accomplished with the use of HighPoint's RAID Management GUI, Web GUI or Command Line Interface (CLI). All HighPoint RAID Management utilities support remote management and email notification and S.M.A.R.T. disk monitoring.

Software support for the RocketRAID 2224 includes (Windows XP, 2003 Enterprise Server and Windows x64 Editions, Linux (Red Hat Enterprise, SuSE and Fedora), FreeBSD and Mac OS X 10.4.
