American PC vendor Dell has today taken the veil off its previously-previewed Adamo XPS laptop. Seen below, the new machine weights as low as 1.4kg and is just 9.99mm (0.4-inch) thick, has a sleek aluminum body, a capacitive latching device which requires a quick finger swipe to open it up, a keyboard with aluminum keycaps and a multi-gesture touchpad. The Adamo XPS packs a 13.4-inch widescreen LCD, a 1.4 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of RAM, GMA 4500 integrated graphics, a 128GB SSD, and will be available with a 20WHr battery providing up to 2 hours and 36 minutes of operation or a 40WHr battery lasting up to 5 hours and 17 minutes. WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 also also equipped, together with a DisplayPort output and two USB 2.0 ports. The operating system pre-loaded is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. "Our engineers and designers are breaking new ground and throwing away the old rules with the introduction of Adamo XPS," said Alex Gruzen, senior vice president of Dell consumer products. "We think the Adamo XPS will inspire an emotional connection with anyone who sees it." Dell says that the Adamo XPS starts at $1799 and that it will be shipping in time for the holiday season.
