HQV benchmark shows the overwhelming quality of current graphics cards

Test 6: Noise Reduction

The nest two tests (noise reduction and noise reduction with motion) test the ability of the DVD player to reduce video noise. The test plays a few fragments containing different amounts of noise, as you would have when viewing an analog signal. nVidia has only recently implemented noise reduction abilities in their software, and therefore used to score a 0 in both tests. The ATI drivers have offered this option for a while now, and also the newer nVidia drivers do offer an option to reduce noise. The option works very well for both companies, the image produced is free of noise without a visible loss of detail. Especially for media centre PC’s that uses an analog cable connection for TV signals this option is advisable. Only a few of the more expensive standalone DVD players can offer a similar degree of noise reduction to the two graphics cards, so both companies score a 10 in this test.
